Here’s your weekend watch guide as South Africa celebrates its broad cultural diversity.
Heritage Day – Thursday, 24 September
The weekend starts strong with the first ODI between the Proteas and Australia in Durban.
Kingsmead hosts the clash today, which starts at 10:00.
SABC and SuperSport will broadcast the match, as well as DStv and ICC streaming.
Friday, 25 September
The first round of the United Rugby Championship (URC) kicks off with three clashes in Europe.
In Galway, the Stormers travel to Connacht for what is sure to be a bruising encounter.
SuperSport and streaming services will carry the match, which starts at 20:45.
Saturday, 26 September
The URC continues with the Lions hosting Leinster at Ellis Park at 13:30. Despite the home advantage, the Johannesburg franchise has the toughest game of the round against the defending champions.
Elsewhere in the country, the Sharks welcome the Ospreys to Kings Park at 16:00.
The Bulls begin their campaign in Parma against Zebre – the match kicks off at 18:30.
On the international sport front, the Springbok Women face Italy in Pordenone. This WXV Global Series clash starts at 14:30, with South Africa looking to record a first win.
SuperSport will broadcast the game, and it will also be available on streaming.
There is also the Azerbaijan Grand Prix to look forward to. Don’t be fooled – the race will take place on Saturday at 13:00 (SA time).
For soccer fans, Bafana Bafana begin their 2027 AFCON qualification campaign at home.
They will face Guinea at the Orlando Stadium at 15:00 in Pitso Mosimane’s first game as coach.
The match will be broadcast on SABC – SuperSport has not listed coverage on its digital TV guide.

The Springboks face the Wallabies in Perth, kicking off at 11:45.
Rassie Erasmus has made 13 changes from the team that beat New Zealand two weeks ago.
Andre Esterhuizen has been named as captain for the first time, and Jasper Wiese will earn his 50th cap off the bench.
