A Towson team determined to get its first win adds to the challenge for Delaware State in the schools’ nonconference football matchup Sept. 26.

Kickoff is at 6 p.m. at Alumni Stadium, where the Hornets (2-2) certainly have ample motivation of their own following last week’s 59-17 drubbing at FBS South Florida.
DSU coach DeSean Jackson will be looking for his team to make strides after being outscored 31-0 in the second half at USF and having trouble with Division II Bowie State in a 21-6 win the previous week.
“I wish we could have matched our energy and our tempo that we put out in the first half, compared to what we put out in the second half,” Jackson said. “As far as us and our coaching staff, what we saw in our team was the will to fight, the will to play together as a brotherhood and show our brand of football.”
Coastal Athletic Association member Towson (0-4 with two losses to FBS teams) lost to a MEAC foe, Morgan State, last week and will be seeking to avoid a second straight.
“You can focus on 0-4, and that's going to frustrate you. That's going to irritate you,” Towson coach Pete Shinnick said. “We want to be very purposeful in how we approach it. We want to go 1-0 this week. We want to play great football.”
