Former Mike McCarthy QB Rips Steelers Offense: ‘Prehistoric’

A former quarterback who played for head coach Mike McCarthy does not like what he’s seeing from the Pittsburgh Steelers offense.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off an embarrassing 20-3 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 2, during which their offense was only able to muster 235 total yards and one field goal, and now, one of head coach Mike McCarthy‘s former players is not holding back on his criticism of the unit.
Former NFL quarterback Ben DiNucci, who played for McCarthy from 2021-22 on the Dallas Cowboys, gave a brutal evaluation of the Steelers offense to start the season.
“The Steelers offense looks prehistoric,” DiNucci said on Pittsburgh’s 93.7 The Fan.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has certainly struggled to find any consistency in the passing game thanks to drops and his offensive line. He finished Sunday completing just 23 of his 39 passes for 187 yards and one interception while getting sacked four times.
The Steelers offensive production was so bad that their leading receiver was third-round rookie Germie Bernard, who reeled in four catches for 35 yards.

But if the Steelers hope to be more competitive, especially with a meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals and quarterback Joe Burrow in Week 3, they will need their offense to be much more productive.
The Bengals are 2-0 to start the season and their offense is a big reason why. Burrow has thrown for 461 yards and three touchdowns, with most of that coming from star wide receivers Tee Higgins (eight catches for 154 yards) and Ja’Marr Chase (nine catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns).
To make matters worse, the status of Steelers star cornerback Joey Porter Jr. continues to be very much up in the air.
