“This will never change”: Man United fan group puts club on notice with stern vow

Members of The 1958, a Manchester United fan group, have vowed to continue their fight against the club’s ownership group following Sunday’s protest before the Manchester derby.

Last Sunday, hundreds of supporters gathered to express fury with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Glazer family.
Fans and the hierarchy have been at odds since the club launched a ticket-touting investigation in the summer. United admitted to underestimating the number of fans who shared their account details and apologised that some genuine supporters were caught in the crosshairs.
Hundreds upon hundreds of supporters, flares alight, descended on the ground in response to The 1958 group’s call, then marched through the Munich tunnel beneath the stadium.
The pre-match protest was followed by players emerging under a banner reading ‘the way you treat us is a disgrace.’
The 1958 have since released a fresh statement, insisting they will not relent in their quest to bring the top brass to account.
Stern vow
The fan group states [via the Daily Mail], “Whatever this club does to eradicate the time-served match-going Red, you know you have been on the right side of history.”
“We will continue the fight on all fronts. Protecting the culture. Protect the traditions. Protect the match-going fan. Protect what is left for the next generation.”
“We will continue to protest against the way season-ticket holders and match-going Reds have been treated. The club simply can’t get away with this level of bullying again.”
“Our fight has always been for a full sale of the club and a change in owners – this will never change.”
United recently shut down suggestions that players have been instructed to acknowledge VIP-paying supporters over others who hold regular tickets.
The Red Devils are next in action on Wednesday evening when they face Brighton & Hove Albion in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
