The Golden State Warriors are not far off from starting a new era, which is not something fans want to see after winning four NBA championships over the last several years. The Warriors are right there in terms of some of their best players potentially about to leave.

One that may be in his last year with the team is Draymond Green.
“It's probably six months left for the Draymond Green era," The Athletic’s MarcusThompson said."He's on a one-year deal, $27.8 million, and doesn't have a no-trade clause, so that's a very tradable contract. It felt like this has been coming for a while, but this, the way (Warriors GM) Dunleavy was talking, and the way they positioned it, this feels like 'Alright, let's see where we are in February because if we're not where we need to be, then we're just going to start selling pieces off and starting over."
With this being a possibility, Blue Man Hoops’ Peter O’Keefe believes the Warriors could sign Ben Simmons next offseason.
“If the Warriors do move on from their former Defensive Player of the Year and his $27.7 million contract by the mid-season trade deadline, suddenly Simmons becomes a lot more interesting if he restores some value at the Kings and becomes available again further down the track. Simmons appears to fit the Warriors mould of high level passing and defensive versatility, making him a player to watch and someone who could still join the franchise in the future based on this recent interest,” O’Keefe wrote.
Simmons is back in the NBA after recently signing a contract with the Sacramento Kings.
“Three-time All-Star Ben Simmons has agreed on a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Sacramento Kings, his agents Max Wiepking, Sean Tribe and Ryan Arney tell me and Marc J Spears. The one-time All-NBA star is back in the NBA for a 10th season after sitting out 2025-26,” ESPN’s Shams Charania wrote.
The 10-year veteran would be someone great to pair with Steph Curry at the end of his career. Golden State is trying to do whatever it takes to make one last Finals run with Curry on the team.
Simmons has made $203 million in his career. The Warriors will have a lot of decisions to make this season, but it could very well set up a Simmons and Curry duo in 2027-28.
