Clark had just set an NCAA scoring record. Reese's LSU team beat Clark's Iowa squad for the 2023 national championship, celebrating by pointing to her ring finger in the closing seconds.

The Indiana Fever picked Clark first overall, and the Chicago Sky selected Reese at No. 7.

While they have competed against each other for years, they have also played together. Both won a gold medal in the recent FIBA Women's World Cup, and they also played together earlier this year in World Cup qualifying.

Both have discussed their relationship, but one reporter gave it one more shot toward Clark in the postgame mixed zone on Sunday after Team USA beat France in the gold-medal game.

Reporter: "Are you guys friends now?"

Clark: "We've always been friends. Don't try to do that."

Both are starring in their third WNBA season. Clark is third in scoring and tied for first in assists. Reese, now with the Atlanta Dream, leads the league in rebounding and averages a double-double.
