5 divisions crown champions at Jennerstown Speedway Complex

JENNERSTOWN — Five division champions were crowned Sunday, Sept. 13, a day later than anticipated after mother nature wreaked havoc once again at Jennerstown Speedway Complex.

Stoystown's Rick Meehleib already locked up the Ron's Collision Center Street Stock title prior to Sunday's features.
Friedens driver Casey Fleegle appeared as if he was going to win for the fourth time this season in the makeup race. He led 19 of the 20 laps but had read end issues on the final lap. Meehleib, whose hood was half popped, took advantage and won for the fourth time. Central City's John Fama took second.
Meehleib also won the regularly scheduled feature. Richard Meehleib Jr. got into Fleegle on the backstretch as the two battled for the lead with three to go.
Cameron Ruggles trailed Seth Nedrow by just two points in the Somerset Trust Fast 4s division entering Sunday.
However, Ruggles, who won a National Championship last year, bested Nedrow in the makeup feature. Nedrow won the heat race. Yet, it was Ruggles who laughed last. He led 14 of 15 laps in the regularly scheduled feature to claim his second championship.
Boswell's Doug Glessner led defending champ Fama by eight points entering the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modified 20-lap feature.
Glessner did not race Sunday. Instead, he elected to have Boswell's R.J. Dallape pilot his No. 17 machine. Dallape finished second in the heat and second in the feature behind Anthony Aiello.
However, it was Fama earning his second straight title, just four points ahead of Aiello because of Glessner's decision not to race.
Ken Burkholder had the points title locked up for the second straight season in the Integrity Coatings Charger division.
Donald Lybarger Jr. won his fourth feature of the season. Bob Mostoller took second and Burkholder finished third.
The Martella's Pharmacies Late Model division did not crown a champion Sunday.
Somerset's Jarred Barclay led Dallape by 15 points ahead of Sunday's action. Barclay won the heat race. In the feature, Dallape had a significant lead over the field. However, Barclay, who started in Row 4, methodically worked his way through the field and found himself side-by-side with Dallape down the stretch.
Barclay pulled ahead with two to go. The flagman in Turn 1 inadvertently waved a caution on the final lap, but the race continued and Barclay distanced himself for his second win of the year as Dallape backed off the throttle.
Somerset's Cash Shaulis won for the first time in the Northeast Crown Vic division. He bested points leader Mike Bakalon for the victory. Like the late models, the Crown Vics have another week of racing to determine a champion.
Jeff Giles won for the third time in the One Stop Auto Sales Pro Stock division. He topped Kyle Burkholder and Josh Dunmyer. Burkholder captured the points title. He led Dunmyer by 40 points entering Sunday. Despite Dunmyer's heat win, he could not close the gap.
The Late Model and Crown Vic divisions conclude the racing season Saturday, Sept. 19, when the American Big Rig Racing Series comes to town.
