A new Guinness World Record may have been set at Worcester City Half Marathon, by BBC Hereford and Worcester.

Steve Cram, a silver medallist in the 1,500m at the 1984 games, set the local radio station the challenge of running the fastest half marathon while presenting a live radio show.

That challenge was taken up by executive producer Tim Boswell who completed the race in a little over two hours and twenty minutes.

He said support from the crowds had been "amazing", adding "I think events like this show off the best of everybody... it was absolutely fantastic".

Guinness World Records said the attempt is going through the evidence review process.

Executive producer Boswell had to carry his own broadcasting kit around the course, and also a large mounted flag on his back.

"I lost my flag about halfway round," he added, "and just finished the race with a big metal stick poking out".

Adam Claxton was due to be among other runners in the field, but pulled out at the last minute due to a chest infection, cheering others on from the barrier.

The 43-year-old was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) in 2024, undergoing a transplant using stem cells from his brother Leon.

But in July 2025 he relapsed and was taken back into hospital and given two weeks to live.

"So to be here today is a miraculous achievement, I'm so blessed and so grateful," he said.

"It just shows that you can do anything you put your mind to, you have to have that resilience and courage to keep on going even when the odds are stacked against you."

He said he refused to believe the two week diagnosis at the time.

"I was like, no, I'm going to do something spectacular, I can turn this around.

"I've got such believe and hope and faith," he added.
