Appleton North 14, Fond du Lac 13

FOND DU LAC – Appleton North got a blocked extra point from Gavin Frega to hold off the Cardinals in a wild finish.

Fond du Lac had driven 87 yards in 10 plays on a final drive, getting a 9-yard touchdown run from Brady Schmidt with 56 seconds left in regulation to pull within a point of tying the game.

Frega and the rest of the Appleton North defensive line got a fantastic jump on the snap and blocked Emiliano Martinez’s extra point attempt to secure the win.

Gabe Meitner’s 6-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter gave the Lightning a 14-7 lead. Appleton North struggled all game moving the ball, collecting just 111 yards of total offense.

North (3-1, 2-0 Fox Valley Association) scored both of its touchdowns on the back of Fond du Lac turnovers: a botched punt attempt and a fumble. Frega finished with seven total tackles and also had 1.5 sacks.

APPLETON – The Papermakers picked up their first victory of the season, jumping out to a 24-7 halftime lead in the victory over the Patriots.

Kimberly improves to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the Fox Valley Association, while Appleton East falls to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the FVA.

Maddux Hermus had touchdown runs of 8 and 6 yards in the first half for Kimberly. Rylan Welch added a short touchdown pass to Jake Mau in the second quarter and ran for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Appleton East got a 76-yard touchdown pass from JoJo Pamperin to Evan Schmidt to pull within 17-7 in the second quarter. Pamperin added a 9-yard touchdown pass to Tate Savides in the third quarter.

Alaina Retzlaff and Alaina Patchett had 11 and 10 kills, respectively, for Fox Valley Lutheran.

Olivia Hartwig had 19 digs for Fox Valley Lutheran, while Hayden Massonet had 27 assists and nine digs. Miranda Voights added six kills.

Xavier 3, New London 0

NEW LONDON - The Hawks defeated the Bulldogs 25-8, 25-16, 25-10 to improve to 2-0 in Bay Conference play and 10-4 overall.

Raya Zurfluh had 17 assists and six aces for Xavier. Rose Kendall had a team-high nine kills, while Lexi Allen and Kayla Fournillier both had six kills. Hope Kaufman had nine digs and three aces.

Luxemburg-Casco 3, Clintonville 0

CLINTONVILLE - The Spartans defeated the Truckers 25-14, 25-15, 25-13 to improve to 10-7 overall and 2-0 in the North Eastern Conference.

Luxemburg-Casco was led by Claire Schlies with 16 assists and six digs; Aubrey Frey with 15 kills, six digs and five aces; Stella Schleis with 11 assists; and Cayden Hruska with six digs and six aces.

“Credit to Clintonville, they were scrappy and pushed us in the first set and really all night,” Luxemburg-Casco coach Jeff Frey said. “Proud of our girls to not get frustrated and stay the course. It’s always great to get a win on the road.”

Oconto Falls 3, Waupaca 0

OCONTO FALLS - The Panthers improved to 7-4 overall and 1-0 in the North Eastern Conference with a 25-11, 25-13, 25-18 win over the Comets.

Izzy Otto had 35 assists and 11 digs for Oconto Falls. Lucy Ripley had 10 kills and four aces, Ella Jahnke had eight kills and Brylee Gorman finished with seven kills and four block kills.

Little Chute 3, Denmark 2

DENMARK - The Mustangs defeated the Vikings 25-21, 16-25, 24-26, 25-20, 15-8 in the North Eastern Conference match.

Fox Valley Lutheran 4, Shawano 0

APPLETON - The Foxes scored four times in the first half in their win over the Hawks.

Cameron Williams led Fox Valley Lutheran with a goal and two assists. Austin Zanto, Ezra Schaser and JJ Minzlaff also scored for Fox Valley Lutheran, with Micah Ewart getting an assist.

Eric Techlin had two saves in goal for Fox Valley Lutheran, which improves to 4-0-2 with the win.

Green Bay Preble 8, Appleton West 0

APPLETON - Preston Batres had two goals and an assist to lead the Hornets to the win over the Terrors.

Carlos Escobar also had two goals for Green Bay Preble. Joe Rivas, Hunter DeGrave, Javier Cruz and Lucas Alonzo Dominguez each had one goal.

Dax Becker, Cam Howard and Carter Allen Walker each had an assist, with Brace Massio getting three saves in goal for Green Bay Preble (5-1-1).

Winneconne 3, Seymour 1

SEYMOUR - The Wolves pulled away from a 1-1 halftime score to defeat the Thunder.

Frander Centeno and Graham Biesterveld scored two of Winneconne’s goals.

Trey Lemke and Blake Syring both had assists for Winneconne.

Andrew Sperling had five saves in goal for the Wolves.
