The Los Angeles Lakers are still figuring out the right moves to make with their roster after putting themselves in a bit of a roster crunch. The team currently has 16 players on its roster, while the official roster limit is 15.

There are several moves the Lakers could make, including waiving a player. Bronny James is one of the names that has been mentioned as a potential option.
“Clearly, the Lakers need to dump someone, and I think it's going to be one of three players," Lakers insider Jovan Buha said. "It's going to either be Dalton Knecht, Jaden Hardy, or Bronny James."
James is heading into his third NBA season, and the Lakers are still figuring out what to do with him. However, it appears that he is safe from being cut this season.
“Bronny is set to make just $2.2 million this season. The Lakers currently have 16 players under guaranteed contracts and will have to trim their roster to 15 before the regular season opener. There is no word of Bronny being on the chopping block. Los Angeles is looking to move on from Jarred Vanderbilt, Dalton Knecht, or Jaden Hardy," Lake Show Life's Tyler Watts wrote.
However, a more recent update reveals that Los Angeles would have already let him go if that were the plan. With that in mind, James appears to be safe to make the roster this season.
“If the Lakers wanted to get rid of James, they would have done it when they could have saved money by releasing him. That crucial date on his contract came and went without Bronny moving an inch off the roster. One would imagine Los Angeles wants to see one more year of his development,” LakeShow Life’s Syvatoslav Rovenchuk wrote.
This will be the first season of James' career in which he will be on his own as a professional. If he can show maturity and growth as a player, he should have a good chance to return for a fourth season.
James knows how important this season is for his NBA future, as this is the next-to-last year of his rookie contract. He has to be willing to do whatever it takes to find a significant role in the rotation. For now, James appears to be safe. However, that does not mean the same will be true next year.
