Baltimore Orioles' Clubhouse Ready To Turn Page After Finding The Win Column
· Yahoo Sports
For the first time in a week and in the month of September, the Baltimore Orioles are finally back in the win column.
Baltimore opened a three-game set against the Cleveland Guardians with a 6-4 win on Labor Day afternoon, which was exactly what the Orioles needed after a disastrous weekend. The Orioles had lost their last six games, which put itself further out of reach of a postseason spot.

While the Orioles still have time to build that ground in the AL Wild Card race, it will surely be a challenge as all momentum seemed to be lost in the last week. While Monday’s win was not a complete flip of the switch, it was surely a step in the right direction – as the Orioles are retaining hope in the clubhouse.
Orioles starter Trevor Rogers got the team back on track with a superb outing on Monday. The southpaw tossed seven innings of one-run ball, giving the Orioles what they needed to snap their losing skid.
“The Red Sox are on a heater, and they beat us. Tip your cap to them. [The Guardians] are a really good team also, and we beat them today,” Rogers said, according to Jake Rill of MLB.com. Check the box on that, get ready for tomorrow and do the same thing.”
However, one thing has been clear with Baltimore’s recent week — a ballgame cannot be won with just pitching, the bats have to do their part too. That they did on Monday.
Coby Mayo continued his recent heater, as he homered twice in the victory. He now has hit 21 homers this season in 351 plate appearances, while continuing to mash left-handed pitching at a high level.
Mayo put his perspective forward as the Orioles aim to build on Monday’s win.
“I think when you can flush a game right after the game’s over, at night and go to sleep and be ready to play the next day and do your homework, that’s all you can ask for, Mayo said. “If you’re doing stuff the right way to prepare, to play the game, and the results aren’t there, so be it. You did everything you could to get those results.”
After the Orioles won last Monday, their record sat at .500 for the first time since April. Since then, they had lost six straight games, in which they got swept in four games against the Boston Red Sox. Monday’s win has them sitting three games back of an AL Wild Card spot.
The hope remains strong in the Orioles' clubhouse.
"I have the absolute faith and trust in this team,” Rogers said. “Control what we can control, play good baseball, and at the end of the year, let it be what it is. Give it our all, and see what happens."
