Massive T&T supermarket to take over Hudson's Bay space

A new T&T Supermarke t planned for CF Markville will reportedly become the largest Asian grocery store in Markham, and all of Ontario.
According to BlogTO , T&T’s current Unionville location will relocate to the lower level of Markville’s former Hudson’s Bay space. The 68,000-sq.-ft. space, set for 2028, will be considerably larger than T&T’s 50,000-sq.-ft. space in Unionville.
Tina Lee, CEO of the Vancouver-based and Loblaw-owned supermarket chain, calls this a major growth opportunity.
“Markham has been a key part of T&T’s story, and we see tremendous opportunity to continue investing in this community,” Lee said in a statement . “Unionville has been a wonderful home for us for the past 14 years, and we are proud of everything we have built together with our colleagues and customers. As our customers’ needs continue to grow, this bigger store at CF Markville will strengthen our presence in the market, create an even better experience for our customers, and bring more jobs to the local community.”
Sal Iacono, CEO of property owner Cadillac Fairview, welcomed the move.
“Welcoming the largest Asian grocery store in Markham to CF Markville is a major milestone for our centre and we’re so excited to see the energy this new destination will bring to our guests and community,” he said in a statement.
Growing chain
Markville will be T&T’s 18th location in Ontario. Another T&T store is set to open in Toronto next month, with a location at North York’s RioCan Empress shopping centre at North York Centre subway station. At 66,000 square feet, it will be T&T’s largest Ontario location before the Markville store opens in 2028.
