Michigan Wolverines quarterback Bryce Underwood had a pretty odd reaction after barely surviving Western Michigan in the season opener. Trailing 12-7, Underwood’s first Hail Mary appeared to fall incomplete with the clock at zero. However, upon review, it was found that one second remained because Western Michigan safety Micah Davis had touched the ball while out of bounds. Finally, Underwood found JJ Buchanan for a 47-yard touchdown to complete the stunning 13-12 comeback.

After the miraculous victory, cameras caught Underwood staring with a serious and mean look during the celebration. It quickly became a talking point on the internet for fans.

Bryce Underwood’s Michigan Almost Defeated By Western Michigan
Bryce Underwood could have been under intense scrutiny had Western Michigan survived his 40+ yard touchdown.
On Saturday night in Ann Arbor, Michigan started strongly with Underwood’s 1-yard touchdown run. However, their offense stalled afterwards. Western Michigan assumed control for most of the game and even found timely offense with the help of four field goals.
The visiting team eventually took a 12-7 lead on Dieter Kelly’s fourth field goal of the night, a 33-yarder with 1:15 remaining.
In the end, with just 35 seconds left, Michigan’s offense drove up 75 yards to set up Underwood for a Hail Mary attempt. His first attempt failed, and Western Michigan players even started celebrating. But the review, and finally Underwood’s clutch moment, spoiled the result for the visiting team.
The Wolverines quarterback completed 12 of 22 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown and one interception while also rushing for a score. He also lost a fourth-quarter fumble that helped Western Michigan extend its lead.
