There weren't a lot of surprises with the Raiders' cuts in the 53-man roster. Of the players who were cut, the only one who wasn't among the cuts in our projected 53-man roster was LB Segun Olubi who we thought would stick due to his special teams work. But there was one actual surprise. It was rookie third round pick Keyron Crawford heading to injured reserve.

Crawford went down with an ankle injury in the team's preseason finale. No specifics were given as to what kind of ankle injury it was, but at the time there was no reason to assume it was anything serious in the same way that you might fear with a knee injury.
But when the team's cuts came through, not only was Crawford placed on injured reserve, but he was not designated for return, which suggests the injury was severe enough they already saw his timeline as long enough not to even try to get him back this season.
Crawford was the team's selection at 67 overall at the top of the third round, so there was high hopes for him. He had shown some promise in the preseason, and even had a sack earlier in the game on Thursday prior to leaving with his injury.
The team will carry four edge rushers on the roster with Maxx Crosby and Kwity Paye as the starters and Malcolm Koonce and Patrick Johnson as the backups.
