She added the whole school is excited for the game and is hungry for some competition.

"I always want to win, I'm competitive just by being me and our students are the same way. We always go out and we're always working hard so we can win those games. Tomorrow this building will be vibrating it's always a big day when the students usually the football boys wear their ties. They're ready to work and it's just a different day," said Young.

59News also reached out to Freddy Simon, the head coach of the Bluefield High School Beavers. He said regardless of the outcome of the game he hopes players will put up a performance worthy of this great rivalry.

"I'm not one of those to predict victories and all that, I just hope our players play well, well enough to be a champion and will see what the outcome is. It's a lot of fun you get to go out with eight to ten thousand people there and it's just a good fun time, and it's just special to be a part of that," said Simon.

The 100th Battle of the Bluefields will take place on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 7:30. p.m. Two teams will enter the field and only one will emerge victoriously.
