Sunderland sign French defender Laplacette

Sunderland have completed the signing of French defender Tess Laplacette on a permanent deal.
The Lady Black Cats announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.
The 27-year-old defender joins Sunderland off the back of a spell with French Arkema Première Ligue club Olympique de Marseille. Laplacette has enjoyed two spells with Les Marseillaises. She has spent eight years of her career with the club. The defender won two promotions in her time with Marseille.

Laplacette has also turned out for Paris FC and Lille OSC in her career to date.
On the international stage, Laplacette featured for France in her youth. She has been capped by Les Bleues at Under-17 and Under-19 levels.
Laplacette is an experienced player. She will be hoping to use her know-how to help Sunderland challenge for promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League this season.
After joining Sunderland, Laplacette said “I’m delighted to join Sunderland and to experience a new and exciting project. This is a new chapter for me and my first experience of English football, so I’m really looking forward to starting this exciting journey with the Club.”
Laplacette is Sunderland’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window.
