Cathy Engelbert’s future in the WNBA is somewhat unclear at the moment.

Now, Riley Gaines has been asked what she would do if she became the commissioner of the WNBA.

When speaking to Benny Johnson, Gaines said that if she were in charge, her ‘first order of action’ would be to change the Toronto Tempo’s new mascot to a bald eagle.
The Tempo revealed a new non-binary mascot when playing against the Indiana Fever last week.
The mascot in question goes by the name ‘Dez’ and is a Borealis Blue Snapping Turtle from Muskoka, Ontario, who uses she/they pronouns.
On changing the mascot, Gaines said: “First order of action, if I were the WNBA commissioner, is I would get rid of the trans, they/them, non-binary new mascot in Toronto, and I would make it a bald eagle, a screeching bald eagle.
“And it makes it even better that this is in Canada, by the way. So that would be my first order of action. New mascot for Toronto.”
