Johnson, who has committed to Gonzaga University, led Juneau to the WIAA Division 4 state title last March.

“DEAR MILWAUKEE … THANK YOU. NOW IT’S TIME FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER,” Johnson wrote on his Instagram page.

Johnson, a 6-foot-6 guard, was the Milwaukee City Conference Blue player of the year as a junior and was also named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association D4 all-state team.

In the state semifinal against Regis, Johnson scored six points in the first half before erupting for 21 after halftime to lead a 72-54 win that clinched a spot in the championship game. In the title win over Cambridge, Johnson had 23 points, seven rebounds, four blocks and two assists in a 62-54 victory.

Before his commitment to Gonzaga, Johnson was being recruited by Cincinnati, Indiana, LSU, Marquette, Nebraska, Southern Methodist, Washington and Wisconsin among others.
