WNBA Community Reacts As Angel Reese Delivers Historic Performance Against Sparks
Reese didn’t just dazzle. She put on a historic performance that left social media buzzing.
According to ESPN Insights, by “refusing to miss,” Reese became “the 3rd player in WNBA history with a 20-point double-double on 100% shooting in a game.”
Real App added additional context to the 6-foot-4 star’s incredible night: “Angel Reese is the first player in WNBA history to record 20/10/5 on 100% FG.”
The numbers alone were enough to get the WNBA community talking.
“ANGEL REESE LEGACY GAME,” Real App posted at halftime.
Another tweet from Real App highlighted Reese’s stunning output:
“Angel Reese had a perfect game.”
“What a performance,” Hoop Central added.
“Y’all can keep hating. She’s gonna keep hooping,” ESPN’s Sam Block tweeted.
“Girls all around the world want to be like Angel Reese.”
“Just wanted to let everyone know that ‘offensively challenged’ Angel Reese is currently 9-9 from the field (2–2 from 3). That’s pretty good, right?” a sports observer remarked.
Reese did most of her damage inside, with seven of her baskets coming from within three feet. The other two came from 24 feet or beyond. For a player who has faced plenty of criticism over her finishing, going 9-for-9 made for quite the statement.
And she set the tone early.
Reese had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in the first quarter as Atlanta raced out to a 34-12 lead. Los Angeles played better after that, but the damage was already done. The Dream never gave the Sparks a chance to make it interesting.
This season, the former Chicago Sky star is now averaging 15.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. After the flawless shooting night, her efficiency climbed to 43.1%, including 19.6% from deep.
For one night, nothing was polarizing about Reese’s play. She couldn’t miss, stuffed the stat sheet, and helped Atlanta run away with the game. The criticism from her usually loud detractors can wait. Thursday belonged to Reese.
