In the latest collision between the creator industry and the traditional sports ecosystem, former Heisman finalist and college football legend Melvin Gordon III is joining Snapback Sports.

Gordon will co-host the content company’s signature on-campus college football series, “Snapback Saturdays,” now in its third season. The series drew 3 million views on YouTube last year and 285 million impressions on social media, according to Snapback, and this season is planning videos at Georgia, Iowa, Washington, Kansas and Gordon’s alma mater, Wisconsin.

“Most football players, even in college, want to experience visiting different schools. It’s something we talked about all the time,” Gordon said in a release. “I didn’t do many visits before committing to Wisconsin. I think the concept of Snapback Saturdays is super cool, and I’m just excited to be a part of it. It’s going to be a blast.”

The “Snapback Saturdays” series aims to find the best on-campus college football experience. The company ranks each site and allows fans to engage and make their own lists, similar to Yelp or Letterboxd.

With one installment this season, Snapback will also document the full gameday experience on the road with Sam Houston, an East Texas-based FBS school. The Bearkats’ jerseys will be emblazoned with the Snapback logo this season, the first such partnership between a college football program and a content company.

Gordon takes Snapback’s college football operation to a new level, bringing a larger national profile and his own history in the sport into the mix.

“Melvin isn’t joining Snapback Saturdays for a few marquee games. He is joining us for 15 stops and embracing everything that makes this series special,” said Snapback CEO Jack Settleman in a release.

“He’ll see Wisconsin twice and be at some of the biggest games in the country, but he’ll also be at FCS games and random Sam Houston midweek games. Melvin’s personality is perfect for finding the best experience in college football, and I truly believe Snapback Sports will be a different animal after this fall, with Melvin playing a huge part in that success.”

Settleman was part of Awful Announcing’s inaugural Top Content Creators list last year.

Gordon last played in the NFL in 2023.
