The X-Files Returns to Comics With New Series From Dynamite Entertainment

The X-Files franchise is suddenly heating up again in 2026. Fresh off the release of The X-Files: I Want to Believe - Vrach Frankensteyn and LEGO's very first X-Files set comes the news that Dynamite Entertainment will publish a new X-Files comic starting this winter.
What's more, the new series will feature a familiar face to X-Files readers. Dynamite's The X-Files series is written by Joe Harris, who previously penned The X-Files: Season 10 and Season 11 for IDW Publishing. Those books presented a different (and some fans might argue better) continuation of the classic TV series before Fox's revival seasons came along. The new book is illustrated by Riley Brown (Dead Acre: Black Badge).

Unlike Harris' previous X-Files comics, this new series looks to be set during the events of the original show, presenting previously unseen cases for Agents Mulder and Scully. Dynamite teases that more plot details will be revealed in the months to come.
“The X-Files has always been sacred to me," Harris said in a statement. "From my own early TV fandom on Friday and Sunday nights to getting to work on one of the greatest supernatural thriller/science fiction franchises in history, the further adventures of Agents Mulder and Scully have occupied a very special place in my head and career. I am beyond honored to write them and I am absolutely over the moon to work with Dynamite on this new series.”
The X-Files is the latest Disney-owned property to find a home at Dynamite rather than Marvel Comics, joining the likes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel, Gargoyles, and Darkwing Duck.
This new comic comes as fans continue to wait for further news on Ryan Coogler's X-Files reboot. Earlier this year, the series was given a pilot order by Hulu. The reboot will star Danielle Deadwyler and Himeh Patel, and it remains to be seen if Gillian Anderson or David Duchovny will reprise their roles.
Meanwhile, The X-Files creator Chris Carter is still hoping to continue his story and resolve Season 11's divisive finale.
