Well, this one certainly came out of left field.

The Panthers added a tight end, a move I personally didn’t see coming. And its a guy who just happened to score 6 TDs in 2025, including a 5 catch, 75 yard and one score performance against these very Panthers. Per Mike Kaye, this is not an injury related move.

Its certainly an interesting development for a team that seemed content with their tight end room as it stood heading into the preseason. They had Mitchell Evans and Tommy Tremble likely slated with most of the traditional tight end work, and hopefully Ja’Tavion Sanders taking a step forward as a receiver, with James Mitchell and Feleipe Franks as familiar faces, followed by former UDFA shot in the dark Caden Prieskorn. Clearly, the Panthers felt the need to add another weapon to the room, so the move is quite curious. Waller could definitely add to the group as a veteran pass catcher who showed he still has some left in the tank at 33 years old.
