The New York Yankees are running into a bit of a problem, and it's not necessarily a bad one to have. With Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, Trent Grisham, Heliot Ramos, Spencer Jones, and Jasson Dominguez, plus others, the outfield is stacked.

This club is likely going to need to shake up the outfield in the offseason, and if they're going to ship a few players out, Dominguez seems to be an obvious trade chip.

However, USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the trade value for Dominguez, in the eyes of rival MLB clubs, has "plummeted," and the former top prospect isn't nearly as valuable as he once was.

Jasson Dominguez's trade value has 'plummeted' per rival MLB clubs

"It's time for the Yankees to trade former prized prospect Jasson Dominguez, but rival clubs insist that his trade value has plummeted," Nightengale reports.

This is a brutal update for the Yankees, as Dominguez's value plummeting likely means that Brian Cashman won't be able to get close to what they could've gotten for the outfielder a few years ago.

Dominguez, the now 23-year-old outfielder, is back in the minor leagues after the MLB trade deadline. He's gotten a few chances to play in the big leagues, but hasn't done enough with those opportunities.

In 53 games this season, he has 0.1 bWAR with a .230 batting average and a .650 OPS. The .980 OPS from his initial 31 at-bat stint in the big leagues back in 2023 is not remotely close to what he's produced in the years since.

Between 2024 and 2026, across 194 games and 637 at-bats, Dominguez has posted just 0.5 bWAR with 18 home runs, 65 RBIs, and a .690 OPS.

For a former prized prospect, that's just not good enough. Even though Dominguez is under club control through 2030, the Yankees are going to have a hard time using him as a key trade chip if they decide to move him in a deal.

He does have value as a 23-year-old former top outfield prospect with upside, but compared to what his value was before, the Yankees' expected return if they trade Dominguez away will likely be quite disappointing, according to this report.
