Bowled out for 54: Alarm bells sounding ahead of Australia vs. Bangladesh Test series

Bangladesh has had a disastrous preparation for its two-match Test series against Australia beginning on Thursday in Darwin.

The Tigers were bowled out for paltry 54 in the second innings of their tour match against a Cricket Australia invitational XI over the weekend, losing the match by an innings and 38 runs.
The result raises grave fears about what damage a full-strength Australian bowling attack is set to inflict, after 22-year-old South Australian swing bowler Campbell Thompson - who has played just one first class match - ripped through the hapless Bangladeshi batting order taking 8-25.
While the result was an impressive one for the young Australian XI, it wasn’t all good news with Aussie Test hopefuls Sam Konstas (1) and Campbell Kellaway (0) both failing with the bat.
This week’s match in Darwin will be the first Test to be played between the two nations since 2017.
In all, Australia and Bangladesh have met just six times at Test level with Australia holding a dominant 5-1 advantage.
