One burning question for Penn State after US LBM Coaches Poll

· Yahoo Sports

Teams who take care of their business by rolling over opponents that they’re supposed to beat are typically the ones that are the most successful in sports. A lot has been made of Penn State’s schedule for 2026, with the storied school projected to have one of the easier slates in the nation.

USA Today’s Paul Myerberg game up with one important question for each team that appeared on the US LBM Coaches Poll, and his question for the Nittany Lions addressed the enviable schedule. Myerberg wonders, “How much can PSU make out of an easier Big Ten schedule?”

Whenever a team in arguably the best conference in college football can avoid the heavy hitters like Oregon, Ohio State, and Indiana, they are in an advantageous position. Myerberg acknowledges that Penn State has a real shot at earning a spot in the College Football Playoff, citing the relatively easy schedule and the continuity of the roster.

The Nittany Lions will be led by a new voice and implement new practices this year under head coach Matt Campbell, but there’s a level of familiarity thanks to the massive number of Iowa State transfers he brought over. This combination creates a strong possibility for the team to gel quickly and surprise some people with a fast start to the season.

Penn State still faces a few challenges along the way, like their mid-season battles with Michigan and USC, but they’ll take this path any day. There are a multitude of factors that are aligning for the Nittany Lions to have a major bounce back season — now they just need to go on the field and prove it.
