The programme began with the ceremonial lamp lighting (deep prajwalan), and the campaign was formally launched by Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Cabinet Minister for Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Government of Maharashtra, along with BK Santosh Didi, BK Malti Didi and BK Rohini Didi. Also present on the occasion were Sanjay Tripathi, Pardesi ji, Madan Jain, Chairman of Bhairaav Housing Corporation Limited, and Corporator Ajay Patil.
Addressing the gathering, Lodha observed that the security of the nation does not rest on weapons and borders alone — it is equally threatened from within society, by the menace of addiction that is destroying the younger generation. He noted that the Brahma Kumaris have been doing this vital protective work for many years, and commended the Ghodapdev Centre for organising the launch. He encouraged the organisation to carry the movement forward and assured his continued support and cooperation.
The programme was facilitated by BK Gayatri Didi. BK Asha Didi introduced the campaign and explained its structure to the audience. A collective pledge for an addiction-free India was then administered by BK Malti Didi, following which BK Santosh Didi conveyed her blessings to all present.
Running from 6 to 20 August 2026, the Mega Campaign — a nationwide initiative of the Brahma Kumaris — aims to gather crores of pledges from citizens committing to an addiction-free life. Through school sessions, community meditation workshops and public awareness activities across Mumbai and beyond, the campaign carries the message that freedom from addiction begins with inner strength and self-awareness — a core teaching of Rajyoga meditation practised at the Brahma Kumaris.
The event was attended by around 200 people, including the staff of the Byculla Zoo, who participated wholeheartedly in the launch. The Brahma Kumaris Ghodapdev Centre extended its gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries and all participants for making the launch a success.
