The 6-1 Gardner Jr., rated as a four-star prospect by 247sports and the No. 64 overall player in the 2027 class, averaged 20.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.4 steals per game in seven games as a junior for Fishers. He missed most of the season due to a broken bone in his left hand.
Gardner Jr. told IndyStar he has official visits set for Auburn (Sept. 19 weekend), Creighton (Sept. 25 weekend), Stanford (Sept. 28) and Ohio State (Oct. 3 weekend). He said he is “still looking to find dates for the other four.”
“I just definitely want to definitely play right away and definitely find the right play style for me,” Gardner said. “Obviously with all of the things going on with the portal and now with the rule change with five years (eligibility), there’s a lot of stuff that goes into it. That’s what we’re going to talk about on the officials.”
In his last full high school season as a sophomore, Gardner averaged 14.5 points, 5.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds for a team that was undefeated until a one-point loss to Jeffersonville in the Class 4A state finals. He was part of the Tigers’ state championship team as a freshman.
"I think we have another chance to go to state again," Gardner said of his senior season. "I'm trying to get my second one."
