The MLB trade deadline is here and all eyes are on the Boston Red Sox.
After an improbable turnaround that has put the Red Sox in the postseason picture, many have wondered how they’ll approach this year’s deadline.

The Red Sox have been rumored to be in the market for a shortstop or a catcher as they look to bolster their team for the final two months of the season.
Some big moves have already happened including the Dodgers acquiring Tarik Skubal from the Tigers, the Mets trading Freddy Peralta to the Rays and the Yankees acquiring Luis García from the Nationals.

TRADE: The Braves traded for lefty reliever Brent Suter from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for infielder Nacho Alvarez Jr., ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported.
RED SOX RUMOR: Boston is interested in Mets pitcher Clay Holmes, per 7 News’ Ari Alexander.
RUMOR: The Astros are “increasingly confident” they will add a left fielder at the deadline, per MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.
RUMOR: The Rangers are open to trading Nathan Eovaldi and have spoken to teams about the pitcher. But, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, his full no-trade clause and being under contract for $24 million next season are two barriers halting a deal.
RED SOX RUMOR: The Red Sox have been “connected to virtually every shortstop and catcher on the market,” The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier reported, including Francisco Alvarez, Hunter Goodman, C.J. Abrams, Zach Neto and Liam Hicks.
RUMOR: The Mets do not plan to trade Luis Torrens despite several teams looking for a catcher, MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reported.
RED SOX RUMOR: The Red Sox are among potential teams looking for a starting pitcher. ESPN’s Buster Olney named Clay Holmes, Robbie Ray, Brady Singer and Casey Mize as possible fits.
TRADE: The Phillies acquired second baseman Luis Arraez from the Giants, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
TRADE: The Blue Jays acquired right-handed pitcher Jose Soriano from the Angels, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The Angels will receive top shortstop prospect Arjun Nimmala, outfielder Eddie Micheletti and right-hander Angel Rivero.
RED SOX RUMOR:The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported an executive told the insider all he’s hearing is Red Sox and shortstop.
RED SOX RUMOR: ESPN’s Jeff Passan said on “SportsCenter” that the Red Sox “want to capitalize” on the run they’re on and “reward the players” for what they’ve done over the last month.
The MLB insider named CJ Abrams, Otto Lopez, Liam Hicks CJ Abrams, Otto Lopez, Liam Hicks as potential targets.
RED SOX RUMOR:MassLive’s Chris Cotillo reported that “there remains a sense behind closed doors that the Red Sox are going big-game hunting” at the deadline.
“Nothing has materialized yet, but Boston is known to have been talking about long-term shortstop options (like Elly De La Cruz, Zach Neto, Otto Lopez and others), potential upgrades at catcher and adding depth to both the rotation and bullpen,” Cotillo wrote.
