Former 5-star wide receiver ready to prove himself with the Aggies

· Yahoo Sports

Texas A&M's 2026 season-opener vs. Missouri State is just a month away, and after leading the Aggies to the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history, Year 3 for coach Mike Elko will be his most challenging given the brutal SEC road schedule, which includes LSU, Missouri, Alabama, South Carolina, and Oklahoma.

Just days after falling to Miami 10-3 in the first round of the CFP, Elko wasted no time making changes to his coaching staff, led by wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins taking over for Collin Klein as the new OC and play-caller. Before a record 10 players were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, Elko retained 65% of the 2025 roster, combined with 17 transfer portal additions, led by the returning starting quarterback Marcel Reed.

Last season, transfer wide receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver combined for 1,836 yards and 13 touchdowns, and after Concepcion was selected 24th overall by the Cleveland Browns, Craver, who reeled in a career-high 59 receptions for 917 yards and 4 touchdowns, will now serve as Marcel Reed's No. 1 receiver.

Paired with Ashton Bethel-Roman, Terry Bussey, and, now, Alabama transfer Isaiah Horton, former five-star wide receiver Jerome Myles, who missed all of last season with a knee injury, has yet to make his debut with the Aggies and put on significant weight this offseason, now standing 6'2" and 230 pounds.

Highly regarded coming out of Corner Canyon in Draper, Utah, Myles was ranked as the No. 1 wide receiver prospect and the No. 1 overall player in Utah, choosing the Aggies over USC, and would have served as one of A&M's X receivers last season if it weren't for his season-ending injury during preseason camp.

With the first preseason practice set for Wednesday, August 5, Myles is reportedly healthy and ready to compete with freshman Aaron Gregory for one of the final rotational spots, and for those who may have forgotten, Myles is one of the best athletes on the roster, breaking the 43-year old Utah record in the 100 meters at 10.36 seconds, and won multiple state titles during his prolific high school career.

Preseason will tell us how quickly Jerome Myles has progressed as a receiver, and at 230 pounds, combined with his injury history, will he look like the elite sure-handed wideout with NFL potential? Time will tell.
