One Jaguars position group standing out early in training camp

Through three training camp practices, the Jacksonville Jaguars' cornerback unit is off to a fast start.
During Friday's practice, Jarrian Jones was the standout performer, coming away with two interceptions.

The return of Jourdan Lewis and Travis Hunter from injury has provided an obvious boost, while Montaric Brown continues to ascend.
John Shipley of Jaguars on SI noted that Jabbar Muhammad has been "active in coverage," building upon his strong performance in offseason programs.
Over the first two training camp practices in particular, moving the ball for the Jacksonville offense didn't come easy.
"The play style of our guys," Anthony Campanile began, "and I think that's kind of an extension or reflection of Matt (Araujo) and Perk (Anthony Perkins), Drew Lascari, Bill Sheridan, those guys are all over them, but I think they've brought an extreme level of detail to the guys. There's a lot of accountability in that room. They're hard on each other, but they love playing together. So that's a great room. It's a great room to be in just day-to-day, even in meetings and everything. They're passionate about football and always looking to do more. So that's coming together in terms of who's going to do what."
The Jaguars' defense was among the best at generating interceptions last season and ranked seventh in yards per pass attempt allowed.
However, one area where improved play from the cornerback unit can provide a boost is on third downs, where Jacksonville's defense ranked 21st in conversion rate and surrendered some chunk plays.
A boost in coverage will also provide the pass rush unit with some help as well, giving the defensive linemen an additional beat or two to get home.
