Autrey, a Detroit, Michigan, native, brings a wealth of collegiate playing experience, having competed for five seasons across the junior college, NAIA and NCAA Division II levels.
Autrey began his collegiate playing career at Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Michigan, where he competed during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. As a sophomore in 2021-22, he set a program record and ranked second nationally with 109 made three-point field goals.
After two seasons at Henry Ford, Autrey transferred to William Penn for the 2022-23 season. As a junior, he averaged 9.7 points per game over 33 contests while shooting 39.9% from the field and 38.3% from 3-point range.
Autrey then transferred to NCAA Division II member Maryville University, where he redshirted during the 2023-24 campaign. He did not appear in a game during his time with the Saints.
Using his additional year of eligibility, Autrey transferred to West Liberty for the 2024-25 season as a graduate student. In 35 games with the Hilltoppers, he averaged 7.0 points per game while shooting 80-of-190 (.421) from the field, 67-of-172 (.390) from 3-point range and 17-of-19 (.895) from the free-throw line.
"Daniel brings exceptional basketball IQ and will elevate our game on both ends of the floor," said Fred Lymas, Shawnee State's men's basketball head coach. "Which is fitting for someone who was named one of the top two-guards in the country during his playing career."
Shawnee State's season opener is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 11, when the Bears host Simmons College at 1 p.m. inside Waller Gymnasium.
