Colts rookie player to watch in training camp at linebacker position

With training camp for the Indianapolis Colts getting closer, which players should be on our radars as these practices and preseason games unfold?

Visit asg-reflektory.pl for more information.

As part of our training camp preview, we'll be highlighting one player from each position group to keep your eyes on. In some instances, it may be one of the Colts' top players that we'll be watching closely, or it could be a player fighting for playing time or a roster spot.

Up next is the linebacker position.

Colts linebacker to watch during training camp: CJ Allen

CJ Allen is presumably stepping into not just a starting role as a rookie, but he is projected to be the MIKE linebacker for this defense. This player is, in a way, the quarterback on the defensive side of the ball.

The MIKE linebacker is responsible for taking in the play call, relaying it to the rest of the defense, and then making any pre-snap adjustments.

This is a role that Allen filled at Georgia, but as ESPN's Ben Solak noted recently, there won't be an established veteran presence next to him. Anarumo's defense is quite "complex" as well.

Given the importance of this position and all the responsibilities that come with it, Allen hitting the ground running will be important.

From the sounds of it, Allen was already able to accomplish that during offseason programs, already impressing the Colts coaching staff on and off the field. That momentum must now carry over into training camp.
