Texas baseball: Freshman Anthony Pack Jr. leads the way as Longhorns announce team awards

About a month after its last game, the Texas baseball program put a bow on its 2026 season.
On Monday, Texas announced the winners of its team awards for the 2026 baseball season. Freshman outfielder Anthony Pack Jr. was named the Brooks Kieschnick Team MVP, and he was joined on the award stand by pitchers Luke Harrison (James and Huston Street Longhorn Award), Dylan Volantis (Greg Swindell Pitcher of the Year) and Ethan Walker (Sean Braswell Academic MVP), fellow outfielder Aiden Robbins (Keith Moreland Offensive Player of the Year) and catcher Carson Tinney (Spike Owen Defensive Player of the Year).

After leading Texas in batting average (.355) and steals (21) while also producing 56 RBIs and 61 runs scored, Pack became the first freshman to be honored as the program's team-selected MVP since Omar Quintanilla in 2001 (Kieschnick in 1991, Swindell in 1984 and Keith Creel in 1978 are the only other UT freshmen to earn this accolade over the past 50 years). Texas recognized a team MVP during most seasons from 1962-2012, and the Longhorns then brought back the award and named it after Kieschnick in 2017.
Volantis, who was also named the Greg Swindell Pitcher of the Year in 2025, defended his title by going 10-2 with a 2.08 ERA and 135 strikeouts this season while Robbins hit 24 homers – which is tied for the third-most in school history – after transferring to Texas from Seton Hall. Tinney posted a .992 fielding percentage as UT's catcher, and Harrison provided the Longhorns with both leadership and a 6-4 pitching record as a fifth-year senior.
This past season, Texas went 46-15 and finished in second place in the Southeastern Conference standings. The Longhorns reached the College World Series for the first time since 2022 before their season was ended by a 2-0 loss to Georgia.
