The New York Mets are almost certainly going to sell off some pieces before the MLB trade deadline. They don't really have a choice after how poorly this season has gone for them.

Francisco Lindor, though? He may have to wait.
It's not that the Mets won't trade their star shortstop eventually. His time with the organization has appeared to sour of late.
It just probably isn't as easy to pull off in the middle of the season.
"Rival executives believe that the Mets will trade shortstop Francico Lindor this winter – not at the trade deadline," USA Today's Bob Nightengale wrote in a new article on Sunday. "He’s owed $160 million over the next five years after this season, and has a full no-trade clause, complicating a deal by Aug. 3."
Essentially, it's easier for a team to make sense of their salary cap sheet in the offseason than at the midway point.
Offseason trade bidding wars can also often involve more teams than the middle of the campaign.
Complicating matters is the looming threat of a lockout, which could alter offseason activity, but still -- it would be hard for the Mets to trade Lindor right now. He's also pretty cold, which isn't helping make him look appealing to other teams.
If Lindor is traded in the offseason, it'd be for a second time. The Cleveland Guardians dealt Lindor to the Mets mainly as a way of getting out in front of contract dilemmas.
This time around, it's more complicated. Can the Mets win with Juan Soto and Lindor? On paper, you'd think so, but last season and this, it hasn't worked out that way.
Lindor definitely is trending toward being traded. It just may not be in the next few weeks.
