Josh Sills' tenure with the Colts

Sills went undrafted in 2022 and originally signed with Philadelphia. In August of 2023, after he was released by the Eagles, the Colts claimed Sills off waivers. He has mostly been with the Colts since as a practice squad player.

Recapping Josh Sills' 2025 season

Sills was elevated to the game day roster on three occasions last season. Each time, he would appear on special teams, playing 12 total snaps. He appeared in one game on offense, playing four snaps against San Francisco at left guard.

Looking ahead to 2026 for Josh Sills

Once again, Sills will be a fringe roster player for the Colts. There is a path for him to make the team, but doing so would require the Colts to go heavy and roster 10 offensive linemen -- many teams keep just nine linemen.

As far as interior offensive linemen go, Sills is going to be behind Jalen Farmer and Dalton Tucker on the depth chart. One would guess that the Colts will also roster two backup tackles, bringing their offensive linemen count on the 53-man roster to nine when also including the starting five.

For the Colts to keep Sills as the 10th lineman, he will have to be among the standout performers during training camp. That said, the practice squad may again be the most likely landing spot for him, where he adds experience if the Colts are in a pinch and in need of depth along the interior.
