In four days, rookies will report to training camp, and we'll actually have something to talk about rather than endless speculation and rankings upon rankings upon rankings. But for now, there are still a couple of items to get through.

One is a new list from Pro Football Focus that ranks the top 32 wide receivers around the NFL. The top spots went to Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks superstars Puka Nacua and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, followed by Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase and Amon-Ra St. Brown rounding out the top five.

The Panthers had one player appear on the list—Tetairoa McMillan at No. 23.

Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick write:

McMillan was exactly what the Panthers hoped for when they selected him with the No. 8 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He won Offensive Rookie of the Year and ranked sixth in the NFL with 55 receptions that resulted in either a first down or a touchdown. McMillan can improve by using his 6-foot-5 frame to his advantage, as he caught just 7 of his 23 contested targets as a rookie.

23rd may sound a bit low for a player who's coming off a 1,000-yard season and an Offensive Rookie of the Year award. However, the context makes it clear that this is a pretty fair ranking given the relatively small sample size that we have to work with.

Specifically, McMillan is one spot ahead of Davante Adams—a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro who has a pretty decent case to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame some day. McMillan also ranked higher than established stars like Denver's Courtland Sutton and Pittsburgh's DK Metcalf.

If he's going to rise in these type of rankings, McMillan is going to have to clean up his catch rate (57.4 percent) and start producing a bit more consistently in the red zone—where he only had two touchdowns going into Week 11 in 2025.

McMillan finished the year on a high note, though—and if quarterback Bryce Young continues to grow along with him, then he could find himself among the league's very top receivers in 2026.
