Kentucky Basketball fans will get one of the sport’s fiercest rivalries in the middle of July as La Familia opens its 2026 run in The Basketball Tournament against Louisville alumni squad The Ville.

The revamped TBT format features just 16 teams this year, with the opening round changing from single elimination to a best-of-three series. The winner advances into the traditional knockout portion of the $2 million winner-take-all event.

La Familia’s roster is headlined by familiar names from Kentucky’s recent past, including Willie Cauley-Stein, Andrew Harrison, DeAndre Liggins, Archie Goodwin, and Kahlil Whitney, while former Wildcat Jon Hood serves as head coach.

Sadly, due to scheduling conflicts, Archie Goodwin won’t be on the floor tomorrow, but he will be available for Game 2.

There’s been some controversy around this year’s team, from Kerr Kerisa’s surprising FBI raid to Reid Travis and Quade Green backing out the week of.

Hopefully, that brings these guys closer together, and they can do something special. What do you think, will La Familia advance?
