Gauteng is set to experience spring-like weather later this week and into the weekend, with daytime temperatures expected to climb into the mid-20s.

July has so far brought cool to warm conditions across most provinces. In Gauteng, however, residents have endured chilly mornings, with temperatures in some areas dropping as low as -1°C.

Unlike the southern parts of the country, no major cold front has reached the northern provinces this month, resulting in mostly sunny afternoons with cool to warm conditions.

From Thursday, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North West are expected to enjoy warmer weather, with temperatures forecast to reach as high as 28°C in some regions.

In Pretoria, temperatures are expected to peak at 24°C on both Wednesday and Thursday before rising to 26°C over the weekend, with morning lows of around 7°C.

Johannesburg will continue to experience cold mornings, but conditions will warm up during the afternoons. Daytime highs are expected to range between 21°C and 22°C for most of the week, climbing to 24°C on Saturday.

The South African Weather Service has forecast warm and sunny conditions across Gauteng and three other provinces.

With many South Africans expected to take part in outdoor activities for Mandela Day, the pleasant weather should provide ideal conditions throughout the weekend.

Early forecasts for next week suggest temperatures are likely to drop in the province by 3°C, with cloudy conditions expected. No rain or cold fron in expected in the northern parts of the country.
