It’s been a good while since we’ve done an edition of the PhHN Daily, so I figured we’d give one a go!

Last week, the Philadelphia Flyers and Anaheim Ducks kept us waiting in anticipation as the Leo Carlsson Saga came to an end. Unfortunately for Philadelphia, it did not result in them landing their 1C. But there is still plenty of aftermath to look at!

Visit orlando-books.blog for more information.

Around the league, one superstar goalie could be as good as gone. Two defensemen are set to reset the market for defensemen in the NHL. There are still lingering questions for all 32 NHL teams. One NHL Insider takes a look at those questions.

In the National Hockey Now network, we look at one of the biggest “What Ifs” from last season, and how a different result could have changed the offseason. We also look at one team that most definitely got better this offseason, but will still miss their departing players.

Get it all on the 7/12 PhHN Daily.

We mentioned the Leo Carlsson saga. We concluded the long week of waiting with what’s next for teh Flyers after missing out on the star center, and what sort of fallout could be on the horizon.

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman wrote one lingering question for each NHL team following the free agency frenzy. When it came to the Flyers, shocker, he brought up the Carlsson story. “What effect will the Leo Carlsson offer sheet have on the rest of the roster?” Friedman wrote. It asks a good question, one I think we can talk about later!

NHL Trade Rumors & News

Winnipeg Free Press: Is Connor Hellebuyck as good as gone? Mike McIntyre breaks down the trade noise around the league’s top goalie, and says that the Jets’ netminder is nearing the door in Winnipeg.

ESPN: Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes could sign record-breaking extensions as we speak. The two pending 2027 UFAs will most certainly shatter Leo Carlsson’s $18 million AAV whenever it is that they ink new deals. Ryan Clark writes how these two will reset the defenseman market.

Detroit Hockey Now: What happens if the Detroit Red Wings had made the playoffs last season? Bob Duff looks into the burning question and wonders if it changes their offseason. Specifically, does Dylan Larkin decide to stay?

Florida Hockey Now: The Florida Panthers no doubt got better this summer. Still, that did not come without a cost. Both Sergei Bobrovsky and Evan Rodrigues are moving on to new clubs after their time with the Panthers. George Richards writes that the Panthers’ star will miss his departing teammates.
