Hamilton cops accuse man, 24, of sex assault and child luring

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and child luring in Hamilton as investigators believe he used social media to meet young people.

Hamilton Police said, following an investigation by its Sex Crimes Unit, the man was arrested on Friday.
Joshua King McRea was charged with the offences sexual assault, sexual interference, and luring a child under the age of 16.
Police did not identify which social media platforms the accused allegedly used to contact the minors.
The accused is described as Black, approximately 5-foot-8 tall and weighing 132 pounds with a thin build and black hair.
“Police recognize that some individuals may not realize they have been the victim of a criminal offence,” police said in a statement. “Anyone who had online contact with the accused while under the age of consent, including those who shared images or communicated with him, is encouraged to contact the Hamilton Police Service Sex Crimes Unit.”
Alleged offences date back to 2024
According to police, the incidents that were investigated are alleged to have occurred between 2024 and 2026.
“Investigators believe there may be additional victims and encourage anyone with information related to this investigation to come forward,” police said.

“We want all survivors of sexual violence to know that we believe them and we will respect their choice when and how they report the incident,” police said.
