Nets' Tyler Bilodeau discusses being drafted, summer league prep
· Yahoo Sports
NEW YORK -- The Brooklyn Nets came into the 2026 NBA offseason with the goal of improving the roster as much as possible following a 20-62 record in the 2025-26 campaign. Brooklyn tried their best to achieve that by taking guard Mikel Brown Jr. and forward Joshua Jefferson in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft, but their second-round pick is looking to make his mark as well.
"It's been super exciting. I got to spend it with my friends and family, but yeah, super blessed, ready to get back to work. This is my first full day in Brooklyn, so having a lot of fun with the kids. It's been a great time," Nets forward Tyler Bilodeau said to the media after his press conference to introduce him and the other rookies to the Brooklyn community and kids. Bilodeau knows that it's time to show why he was drafted.

"I think just that winning mentality. I think I can do multiple things on the court, space the floor, get after it defensively, rebound, be a great teammate, do all the little things," Bilodeau said when asked what he wants to bring to the court before addressing what skills he wants to show. "I think I score on all three levels. I think I'm really good at punishing switches [by] using my size and strength, but I also want to be seen as a good defender and rebounder as well."
Bilodeau, 22, is coming off a senior season with the UCLA Bruins in which he averaged 17.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting 51.8% from the field and 46.4% from behind the three-point line. As Bilodeau alluded to, his primary strength is his long-range shooting at 6-foot-9 and 220 pounds, but he believes that he has more to his game than just shooting the three-pointer.
The good news for Bilodeau is that he will be playing in the California Classic this weekend and in the Las Vegas Summer League next week so he will have plenty of opportunities to show what he can do. In the meantime, the No. 44 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft gave his thoughts to the media about what being drafted was like and how he looks to improve his game moving forward.
