The Miami Dolphins are just starting a massive rebuild this offseason, as they've gutted the roster to such an extreme degree on both sides of the ball.

While they've made some moves to fill up the roster, there's still room for the Dolphins to add to the depth chart. Specifically, adding another cornerback would be a smart move for a Dolphins team that's struggled to get help at the position in recent years.
That's why when Moe Moton of Bleacher Report linked the Dolphins to Trevor Diggs in free agency as a "bargain bin" option, it's one the Dolphins should seriously consider. Diggs, brother of Stefon Diggs, would make sense for the Dolphins.
Why Dolphins would be a good landing spot for Trevor Diggs
"Once a ball hawk in the Cowboys' secondary, Diggs can rediscover his tip-top form if healthy ahead of the 2026 term," Moton writes. "... Potential suitors: Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins."
The Dolphins are not going to be a playoff contender in 2026, so they have the leeway to try out some more risky things. It's why signing Malik Willis was such a good decision.
Diggs, the polarizing former Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers cornerback, would be a great buy-low, high-upside option for the Dolphins.
Plus, the Dolphins could use the cornerback help. Chris Johnson, one of their 2026 first-round picks, is a starter. But their other CB options aren't that great.
JuJu Brents, Jason Marshall Jr., Ethan Robinson, Darrell Baker Jr., Storm Duck, Alex Austin, Marco Wilson, Ethan Bonner, A.J. Green III, and Miles Battle make up the current CB room.
Diggs would fit right in and might even win the starting nickel CB spot for the Dolphins. The former Pro Bowl and All-Pro corner is someone worth taking a flier on.
He's only 27 years old, and back in 2021, he had 11 interceptions, two of which were pick-sixes.

While he allowed a 154.2 passer rating last season for the Cowboys and Packers combined, his 72.9 passer rating in the five years prior to 2025 is worth investing in.
Miami likely won't have to spend much to sign Diggs either. He's not found a home at this point and is likely to sign a one-year prove-it deal.
The Dolphins make perfect sense, as he could join a defense under Jeff Hafley, whose Packers defense took a chance on him last season.
While it didn't exactly work out, he did have an 81.2 passer rating allowed in one game, much better than his 157.2 passer rating allowed with the Cowboys.
The Dolphins adding Diggs would be very interesting and would make a lot of sense for both the team and the player. Diggs to Miami is a good fit, and Moton naming them as a fit for Diggs as a "bargain bin" free agent fits the Dolphins' needs perfectly.
