The 3-year extension Joel Embiid signed with the Philadelphia 76ers back in 2024 officially kicks in for the 2026-27 season. The original number was set at $193 million, but with the salary cap changing and his extension representing 35% of the salary cap, that number has been tweaked a bit.

Adam Aaronson of Philly Voice broke down the numbers for Embiid as he begins his new deal. He is set to make $57,736,350 in the upcoming season and the total extension will be $187,065,774. Of course, the final year of the extension is a player option worth somewhere around $67 million in the 2029-30 season.
Final numbers on Joel Embiid's three-year supermax extension:
— Adam Aaronson (@SixersAdam) June 30, 2026
2026-27: $57,736,350
2027-28: $62,355,258
2028-29: $66,974,166 (player option)
Total: three years, $187,065,774
Embiid was limited to only 38 games in the 2025-26 season due to a variety of issues from his knee to a right oblique issue to an emergency appendectomy. The big fella still managed to average 26.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while also returning early from the appendectomy to spearhead the comeback from being down 3-1 against the Boston Celtics in Round 1.
While there are always major injury concerns with Embiid, the Sixers will be able to have a lot of success if they can keep him on the floor. He has worked hard in order to keep himself ready and to overcome the injuries that have belabored him in the past. One has to wonder how he will look in the very near future for Philadelphia as he and the franchise move forward.
