The majority of losses from last season's USC football roster came from the offensive side of the ball and at the receiver position. Losing reliable veteran tight end Lake McRee created a big hole. However, there is maximum excitement about highly touted freshman Mark Bowman. He could reduce the Trojans' problems at tight end with his versatility.

In a recent article, Brad Crawford lists freshman tight end Mark Bowman as the second-most anticipated first-year player in the Big Ten. Here is what he had to say about the Trojans' freshman:
"When you sign college football's No. 1 class, there's bound to be a few freshmen amped to move up the two-deep. And it didn't take long for Bowman, as an early enrollee, to flash as a definite target in the 2026 passing game. The former five-star recruit has strong hands and runs routes much like former first-round tight end Brock Bowers out of Georgia. He's almost identical in size to Bowers at 6-foot-4, 235 pounds and delivers a punch when asked to block, but his top strength is his athletic ability and his ability to pull down receptions with defenders around him."
Brock Bowers is the prototype for an athletic and versatile tight end. They do not just give out Brock Bowers comparisons to anyone. With Lincoln Riley's dangerous passing concepts and a quarterback with growing confidence in Jayden Maiava, Bowman could have early opportunity for targets. The Trojans have most of the attention going to their receivers, but Mark Bowman could evolve into being one of the Trojans best targets even in his first season, with his exciting athleticism and traits.
