Julian Nagelsmann could be axed, Jürgen Klopp might be next up per report

According to a report from Sky Germany’s Patrick Berger, there is a “serious scenario” where German national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann could be sacked. DFB president Bernd Neuendorf and Andreas Rettig, of the sports leadership team within the DFB, are actively discussing and monitoring the situation:

For now, however, no quick decision. First conversation took place overnight between Neuendorf, Rettig, Völler, Nagelsmann. Further in-depth analysis is to take place in Germany.
🗣️Neuendorf announces: “In the coming days, we will jointly and calmly discuss the reasons why the team was unable to tap into its existing potential and failed to live up to its own and Germany’s football expectations.”
“We cannot and do not want to simply return to business as usual with regard to the upcoming tasks after such a devastating blow.”
➡️Further personnel consequences are also being discussed beyond Nagelsmann.
➡️Nagelsmann himself has ruled out resignation. Contract runs until home EURO 2028, earning up to 8m€ per year.
Interestingly, the name already being bandied about internally is Jürgen Klopp. Red Bull’s head of global football might be enticed by this salvation project and could leave his cushy role as a house cat. Maybe it is time for Germany to start its own brand of heavy metal football:
