The scheduled fight between Canelo Alvarez and Christian Mbilli has been postponed, according to Mike Coppinger.

Canelo and Mbilli were set to fight on September 12 in Riyadh, for Mbilli’s WBC super middleweight title.

The fight is now being targeted for “late October,” still in Riyadh. The internal spin is that it is “part of a growing Riyadh Season calendar” now, which, you know, whatever.

No reason has been reported for the postponement.

Canelo (63-3-2, 39 KO) hasn’t fought since being beaten by Terence Crawford last September in an undisputed super middleweight title fight. Following Crawford’s retirement, Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KO) was elevated from interim to full WBC champion at 168 lbs, and the deal with Canelo came together pretty quickly as the 35-year-old Mexican superstar looks to get right back to the world titles.

A new official date will probably come sooner than later, given that even late October is just four months-ish away at this point.
