A's Notes: Jacob Wilson Avoids IL, Soderstrom Exits Early With Hip Tightness
· Yahoo Sports
Jacob Wilson seemed to re-injure his shoulder trying to avoid a tag at home plate during Wednesday night's game against the San Francisco Giants. The A's shortstop spent a month on the IL with a left shoulder dislocation up until June 12, and that play has left him day-to-day the past few games.
Wilson was available off the bench on Saturday night, though he didn't end up making it into the game against the Angels in the 5-2 loss.

"Jacob feels better about where he's at," Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said ahead of Saturday's game. "I think this is a decision to give him one more day. Any time players feel like they're ready, there's times when they come back too soon. I think he's still got some soreness, but the soreness is in a much better place than it was the last two days."
He also confirmed that with Wilson being available off the bench, he will not be going on the IL.
It does sound as though he'll be back in the lineup by Sunday, or against the Los Angeles Dodgers next week.
Tyler Soderstrom UpdateA's left fielder Tyler Soderstrom was removed from Saturday's game in the bottom of the third inning, with Lawrence Butler taking his spot in the lineup and playing in right field, while Colby Thomas slid to left.
Kotsay said after the game that Soderstrom has some hip tightness, "enough to where we had to remove him from the game. We'll get him reevaluated."
That doesn't sound as if he'll be in the lineup on Sunday, though it's unclear what kind of timeline we could be looking at until that evaluation takes place.
Jacob Lopez Dominates in SacramentoAfter an awful outing against the New York Yankees on May 31 in which he gave up seven earned runs in two innings, the A's decided to option Jacob Lopez to Triple-A Las Vegas.
He didn't make his first appearance for the Aviators until June 16, and Round Rock acted like the Bronx Bombers, hanging 11 earned runs on Lopez across two starts totaling 3 ⅔ innings last week.
Last night in Sacramento he shut down the River Cats, holding them scoreless for six innings, giving up just three hits and a walk, striking out four. He used just 64 pitches, 49 of which were strikes, which is a 77% strike rate.
This is the first big step for the left-hander's journey back to the A's roster.
