Mahmoud Saber provided Egypt with the early 1-0 lead, scoring in the fifth minute of the game against Iran during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Group G match in Seattle on Friday, June 26.

Saber managed to kick the ball between the legs of Iran goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand, who couldn't come up with the save.

Egypt is not in dire need of a victory, having already advanced to the knockout stage. It is just the second time in the country’s history at the World Cup.

Iran managed to answer back with a goal of its own after Ramin Rezaeian scored in the 14th minute. The game is tied at one goal apiece.
