The New England Patriots released Stefon Diggs this offseason, and he remains unsigned.

Diggs signed with the Patriots last offseason after tearing his ACL while playing for the Houston Texans. The Patriots took a risk by signing him, given his age and recent injury. However, he ended up being one of the best players on the team. He had a 1,000-yard season and led the team in receptions, targets and yards.
The Patriots ended up signing Romeo Doubs and trading for A.J. Brown, so a reunion with Diggs seems unlikely. Diggs was facing charges of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery, but he was found not guilty of all charges. The NFL has also concluded its investigation into him, saying there is not enough evidence to conclude that he violated the personal conduct policy.
Diggs is not facing any kind of suspension, so that should not be a holdup in his free agency. However, he remains unsigned. The Washington Commanders should sign him to a one-year deal if nobody else will.
Diggs is a Maryland native, attending both high school and college there. The Commanders are his hometown team, and they could use a receiver like Diggs. They have Terry McLaurin, but outside of him, there is little proven talent in the receiving corps. At the very least, Diggs could be the best No. 2 option for the Commanders.
Diggs and McLaurin could be an elite duo with Jayden Daniels as the trigger man. The Commanders went to the NFC Championship Game two years ago, and adding Diggs could set them up for another deep playoff run.
