Fanatics Collect has managed to list a pretty unique piece of basketball history, as Shaq’s old LSU college ID has been listed for sale.

With a past O’Neal LSU ID from 1992 selling for $26,697.15 after 16 bids in March 2024, there is enough reason to believe it could come close to that price on what should be a much larger bidding pool.

Shaquille O’Neal’s LSU ID is a unique but expensive collectible

Despite being in the pre-bidding process, the ID has already received 48 bids, with the current price listing it for $5,000, as of 7:00 a.m. ET.

The bidding is expected to close by June 28 at 7:00 pm PT, including the extended bidding period. The ID is PSA/DNA Certified and has an authentic autograph on it.

While PSA has ‘graded’ the ID, they haven’t given it a numerical rating as they’d do for a basketball card. This is primarily because it’s a personal O’Neal effect, and not a commercially-available card that was available in a pack.

As a result, this card might have additional value as it’s something O’Neal personally possessed and used.

Shaquille O’Neal was dominant while playing for LSU

O’Neal is one of the greatest players in the history of the LSU Tigers. He played three seasons for the Tigers, putting up 1,941 points, 1,217 rebounds, and 412 blocks over 90 games. He shot 61.0% from the field, and would go on to be the No. 1 pick in the 1992 NBA Draft.

O’Neal became a two-time SEC Player of the Year winner and was a first-team All-American selection as well. His No. 33 has been retired by the Tigers, and he was inducted into the college’s Hall of Fame. Not only that, a 900-pound (410 kg) bronze statue of O’Neal is located in front of the LSU Basketball Practice Facility.

O’Neal was expected to develop into an NBA superstar, and that’s what he did, averaging xxx over an xx-year career where he won four titles, three Finals MVPs, and one regular-season MVP.

His LSU ID card carries real value because it’s a time capsule to a time when O’Neal was just a bundle of potential. The fact that he developed into one of the greatest players the game has ever seen is why people are going to bid thousands of dollars to try to own this piece of basketball history.
